“Some men rob you with a six-gun, others with a fountain pen…”
Woody Guthrie
You either love demonstrator fountain pens or you give them a hard pass. Demonstrator pens were not meant to be real pens. They were originally furnished by by pen manufacturers to dealers to show potential buyers the semi-secret features of their patented pen mechanisms. In vintage pen circles, the originals are rare beasts, highly collectable and valuable. Modern pen makers are awake to this and have adapted clear acrylics into many of their designs. They echo the past, but rather than display the mechanisms, they allow pen addicts to show off the fancy, vibrant colours in their ink collections. This is a Japanese Pilot Custom Heritage 92, filled with highly prized blue black Iroshizuku Shin-Kai ink. The white gold nib writes likes butter and the ink really pops on the paper. #evenmywifelikesthisone #letsmakelemonade
