“Astronomy and mathematics are the poles for the compass of my mind…”
Carl Friederich Gauss
On of my good friends and close colleagues is an accomplished astral photographer. Her images are amazing. On a clear night at Aldinga, the possibility of making art from the stars in the sky is very tempting. So I finally had a go. This is astral photography 101. Star trails captured with an iPhone. A long exposure allows time for the stars in the night sky to rotate around the celestial pole. In the Southern hemisphere this is located in the constellation of Octans. Star tracking apps help both with the locating and the photography. I think it turned out pretty cool. #yetanotherrabbithole #letsmakelemonade
