COVID19/SARS-Cov-2 has overshadowed the past few years. The virus emerged from Wuhan in the last weeks of 2019. How has become completely irrelevant. The pandemic officially started on the 30th January 2020, ending officially on the 5th May 2023. Confirmed cases worldwide during that time was 772,138,054. The reported deaths were 6,985,951, but the estimated deaths were 18.2-33.5 million. The official disease fatality rate was 1.02%. A couple of weeks ago I had my first taste of the pandemic. This blog is one of thanks. My family, friends, colleagues, health professionals and the wider community worked and sacrificed hard to protect people like me from the virus over the past four years. Their efforts gave the gift of time. Time for the virus to become less virulent, time for 5 doses of an effective vaccine, time to develop effective anti-viral therapies, time for hospital and ICU beds to be available, time for my leukaemia and immune system to stabilise. One percent of people who encountered COVID-19 were not so lucky. #COVIDprivilege #letsmakelemonade
