I am currently catching up with my family, travelling the Ligurian coast. This is Manarola, one of the villages that comprise the UNSECO listed Cinque Terre. It is a great place for walking, sketching, food and colour. Rather quickly, I came to the realisation that there were no blue houses. Sadly, there is an almost forgivable reason for this. The homes of the coastal villages of the Cinque Terre are brightly coloured so that fisherman could identify each one from the sea. The sea was almost always a bright blue and therefore a blue home was a potential for a clash. The Greeks of course have a very different philosophy regarding blue coastal dwellings. #stunningevenifnotblue #letsmakelemonade
