So in South Australia our hospitals are having a ramping crisis outside their emergency departments. I might have found the solution in Venice. This is the Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venezia. It is a public hospital, indeed the only hospital in this city island. It has all the bells and whistles, emergency, all the medical specialties, all the surgical specialties, obstetrics, paediatrics, oncology, imaging and ICU. Northern Italy had a terrible time with the initial wave of COVID19 and Santiago Giovanni had an impressive survival rate for those locals needing hospitalization. Venetians love this place. It also has no ramping of ambulances. Why? It has no ambulances. In Venice you walk up, are carried up or arrive by boat at the dock. Also don’t get me started on the 11th century buildings, the breathtaking art in the actual wards and the museum of medieval and renaissance medical textbooks and instruments. I wish someone had come here before we built the nRAH. #floodthestreets #letsmakelemonade
