A testing time in Adelaide

“But eventually it is a game of cricket…”

Sachin Tendulkar

Last weekend saw the annual Adelaide Test match, Australia versus India. The atmosphere was electric and the crowds were rocking. This event seemed to have everything, even a cricket match. The first day Cricket crowd was a new record at this ground, at just over 50,000. The first ever test at AO was held 12-16 December 1884, Adelaide and England of course. Since then all manner of activities have used the oval as a venue. Cricket, football, soccer, rugby, American football, hockey, cycling, baseball, tennis, concerts, Christmas pageants, religious rallies, funerals, Royal visits and the first Roller Coaster in SA. The largest single day attendance for cricket is 55,317 (Australia/England 2017, second day). The largest football crowd was 62,543 (Sturt/Port 1965 Grand Final). Interestingly, the largest attendance at any Adelaide Oval event was a concert (Adele 2017). #australiaby10wickets #letsmakelemonade
