The building of classics was never easy

“Don’t concentrate on risks, concentrate on results…”

Chuck Yeager

This is a 1/48 scale Supermarine Attacker F1. The Attacker appeared a couple of years after the end of WW2. It was produced by the Supermarine company, originally formed to produce high performance civilian seaplanes for the rich and adventurous. This brand was most famous for the iconic Supermarine Spitfire WW2 fighter, the plane that won the Battle of Britain. The Attacker was a very early jet engine fighter and the first jet fighter designer for carrier service. Unfortunately, to engage the tail hook for carrier landing a very high nose up attitude was required. Pilots could not see the ship or deck over the nose. Chaos and calamity ensued. This model of the Attacker F1 is also a literal classic, being produced by the now defunct Classic Airframes company in the 1960s. This kit was groundbreaking, as it incorporated styrene plastic, resin and metal photoetch parts. It was renowned in its day as a frustrating challenge to build. It proved no different in 2024. #gluepaintdecalswear #letsmakelemonade
