FOMO is real, at least for pen nerds. In the pen and stationary community the fear of missing out is particularly prevalent for items that are a limited release or are country specific (looking at you Japan). Well this pen, the Mitsubishi Uniball Zento Signature 0.5mm in black alloy, is causing a lot of trouble for something which is not limited and pretty inexpensive. The excitement is twofold. The ink in this pen is the new Zento hybrid liquid gel. It lays down smooth and wet, yet dries almost instantly. The pen body is also unique, a metal alloy which magically feels soft and rubbery in the hand. The first batch of these pens was released in Japan during February 2025, for around $30 each. Both brick and mortar and online stores were stripped of stock in a couple of hours. Demand has completely outpaced production. If you turn to online secondary markets, expect to pay 20 times the original cost. Thats if you can find one, are quick enough, and fluent in Japanese. #ijustwanttoholdone #letsmakelemonade
