Recently Melissa and I were in Melbourne for the Australian F1. Before the racing began we headed out to Movida for dinner, not the OG in Flinders Lane but Aqui in Bourke Street. As we emerged from the restaurant, a green dome loomed over the night skyline like a vision from War of the Worlds. Sketching and applying a bit of watercolour are a unique and powerful way to capture that memory. My work is far from perfect, the perspective is wonky, the foliage is pretty clumsy and the whole thing is tonally naive. It is however a personal snapshot of a moment, a vision, a great meal, and an evening with my wife. Art doesn’t need absolute precision and execution to have lasting impact. #thesupremecourtofvictoria #letsmakelemonade
