You shouldn’t take a photo in the Sistine Chapel, but this unimposing door is a few feet from the entrance. These doors don’t open very often, but they did have a moment a couple of weeks ago. This is the entrance to the Room of Tears. This is the room that a newly elected pope is taken to at the completion of a conclave. Here he can pray privately, select his style of Papal robes and most importantly, choose his Papal name. Tears are said to come as he considers his fate.
