Palazzo Dario, Venice
Claude Monet, 1908
Somewhere to escape the maddening crowd is essential. This could be a great option, and it is on the market. Built in 1486, Palazzo Dario has a great location on the Venetian Grand Canal. My absolute favourite art gallery, The Peggy Guggenheim Museum, is a neighbour. The palazzo is a fascinating place, constructed over the site of a Knights Templar burial ground. There is plenty of room for entertaining quests who drop by, with four floors and over 10,000 square feet of space. Each bedroom has its own loggia and view of the Grand Canal. The interiors reflect a tasteful 19th Century renovation, with marble staircases, Murano glass chandeliers, historic textiles and a Moorish courtyard fountain.Dario is famous as the only building painted three times by Monet. The building is also haunted, with the last three owners dying by murder or suicide within the Palazzo, John Entwhistle of the Who being one of them. This place really has it all. As always, if you have ask the price, you aren’t a serious contender for ownership. #closetopublictransport #letsmakelemonade
