“A drop of ink can make millions think…”
Lord Byron
A tier list is a ranking system of best to worst. A tier is generally associated with fixed characteristics. A tier is easily confused with a level system, where components or skills are continually changing, perhaps improving, maybe deteriorating. Tier systems are essentially independent of time, levels are not. The S, A, B, C, D and F tiers are essentially lifted from the Japanese School System. S meaning superior, super, or special. Creating tier lists is certainly having a moment of popularity, particularly for online hobbies. Stationery is a good example. The legendary Brad Dowdy (The Pen Addict), recently posted his tier list of the beloved Japanese Pilot Iroshizuku inks. A hornet’s nest was poked. The fountain pen community is up in arms again. #shinkaiforme #letamakelemonade
