Mist in the landscape is a very real part of travel in SouthEast Asia. Obscuring morning sea mists, a persistent haze over the sky throughout the day, and a slowly enveloping evening cloud over the mountains. All of this has been captured as a key part of Asian art practices. The combination of watercolour paints as the dominant medium, minimal colour palettes, and a wonderful understanding and control of tonality, allow this natural haze to be beautifully captured. This is not the vivid mark making central to Western based art. There is also another element, a perfect balance of symbolism verging on abstraction, alongside a keen eye for detail in the right moments. I love it, but as a struggling artist feel both inspired and frustrated. #letsseewhatipost #letsmakelemonade
