Sometimes you need a pencil

“Success is a worn down pencil…”

Robert Rauschenberg

I am fond of using fountain pens. I try not to judge those that write with other things. I have a dilemma. When sketching, a pencil is often the weapon of choice. You can get amazing, bespoke wood-case pencils, but keeping them sharp in the field or urban sketching environment is a pain. Rotring was founded in Hamburg in 1928. They produce a series of technical drawing pens and mechanical pencils. They are incredibly popular with professional drawers such as architects. Your house may have been planned with one. This is a model 800 Rotring Pencil. It features a very cool retractable lead pipe and gold accents. It is the ideal pencil for uptight fountain pen nerds. #redring #letsmakelemonade
