Kickstarter is a Brooklyn based global crowdfunding platform. It launched in 2009. Since then it has received $4.6 billion in pledges, from 17.2 million backers to fund 445,000 projects. Essentially, a project can be proposed or designed, with the market and funding secured up front from backers, prior to commencing the fulfillment phase. Projects that do not reach their backing targets, don’t proceed forward. Pens are extremely common and popular projects on Kickstarter. This is a Kickstarter pen that I have backed for two reasons. First, in the fountain pen community there is no bigger influencer than the PenAddict, Brad Dowdy. This is Brad’s first fountain pen design.
