Where does TV come from?

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic…”

Arthur C Clarke

All children have pondered the magic of television. I was obsessed with how it could be everywhere and whether the people on TV could see me. On Father’s Day I was treated to brunch with my family at the summit of Mt Lofty. This is the highest point in Adelaide. In fact the exact highest point is the top of the TV towers. These towers are visible from nearly everywhere in the city. As a child I was sure there were four, one for each channel. There are in fact only three. These towers give TV coverage to 91% of Adelaide. The last 9% are covered a transmitting beacon on the end of the Brighton jetty. #preinternetmagic #letsmakelemonade
