“Old age is a shipwreck…”
Charles de Gaulle
Its 2021 and we are highly conscious of the concepts of recycling and protection of the environment. Not so in 1945. The steamship Excesior was built in Dundee in 1897. This once world traveller reached the end of it’s commercial life at the end of WW2 and was run aground deliberately at Mutton Cove, next to the Port River. Over 40 other ships met a similar fate along the waterways of the Port. It is surprising to see it so close to the Adelaide CBD. It is also ironic that it is adjacent to the Osborne Naval Construction Yards, home of the recently abandoned French Submarine Project. #justlefttorust #letsmakelemonade
