A gift that gives

“Colours are the smiles of nature…”

Leigh Hunt

I was fortunate enough to receive this book as a farewell gift from as surgical colleague. Anyone can buy a book, few take the time and have the insight to buy the right one. This book says that you know me and want to connect with me. Chromotopia deals with the history of traditional pigments and colours. The book has real style and transports you back to an age before industrialized synthetic pigments and large scale paint production. Many of the dyes and pigments in this book are all but lost, but their description takes you to a time when it was a rare privilege to have vivid colours in your life. These colours were rare, made from obscure components, produced with almost magical alchemy techniques, unstable, toxic and hard to use. This book is a paint bloggers dream. #thanksjames #letsmakelemonade
