One of my happy places is the Silver Sands wash pool. The best season is winter. There is an ephemeral lake, and a landscape filled with birdlife, green grasses, colourful hillsides, cloud filled sky, all manner of lights and plots of mud. During summer it is dry, dusty, filled with sliding light and far too snakey. For many the filling of the wash pool in the early days of June is much anticipated. It is a great place to explore with your dog and wife. Perfect on a sunny winter’s day, even better in a light rainstorm. This wash pool is an important of my physical and mental health. It is also a subject that I never tire of painting or sketching. #sliceofheaven #letsmakelemonade
