A pocket in the market

“I’m not writing it down to remember it later, I’m writing it down to remember it now…”

Jim Coudal, Field Notes founder

In a digital age who needs a pocket notebook? Turns out quite a lot of people. In 2007 Field Notes, a Chicago company began to make small notebooks based on Argicultural company promotional books from the early 20th century. They now have a massive (nearly a million books per year) online subscription business, producing a new theme each quarter. Each edition is closely critiqued and snapped up by “Field Nuts”, rabid collectors of the books. The books are sold for a few dollars initially, but the secondary market for rare editions can reach 4 figures. Gotta have them all! My favourite series is the tribute to the NASA moon missions. #greatxmasgift #letsmakelemonade
