Alternative Christmases

“Aren’t we forgetting the true meaning of Christmas? You know the birth of Santa…”

Bart Simpson

Over the last few days we are all prepping again. This time for Christmas. 2020 has been a year of broken routines and weird shopping sprees, so maybe it’s time to mix up your Christmas. The Japanese have an ancient tradition (since 1974) of consuming KFC on Christmas Day. This would be popular with my daughters, but we can do better than that. Greenland has some of the lowest COVID19 rates, so why not celebrate in their traditional manner. Christmas in Greenland means tucking into Muktuk -raw whale skin and a little blubber – and Kiviak, which is made by wrapping a Auk (small arctic bird) in a seal skin and burying the package for several months. Merry Christmas everyone. #photographthebirdfirst #letsmakelemonade
