King of the hill

“After climbing a great hill, one only finds more hills…”

Nelson Mandela

Sitting in the Members Stand at Unley Oval, the far vista is dominated by the nearby form of Brown Hill. This hill was part of the folklore at Unley High. It was where cross country runners prepared for State championships and the first XVIII footy team conducted preseason training. It will suprise many that a man of my sporting prowess had never been required to climb this hill whilst at school. In fact, despite it looming over my life, I had never been up it. Recently on a sunny autumn morning, Scout and I decided to make the ascent. It seemed a much higher climb than the 310m indicated on my iPhone. The views were amazing and the sense of achievement upon reaching the top indescribable. Like many things, I wish I had done it years ago. #unleyicon #letsmakelemonade
