Over the seven decades of her reign, there have been over 130 official portraits of Queen Elizabeth II. Early ones were usually painted, but photographs have become more common. Many are formal poses, some are more casual moments. Some are beloved by all and others have attracted controversy. Either through the style or the execution, or sometimes even the artist themselves. Rolf Harris, I’m looking at you. Chris Levine was commissioned in 2004 to produce a portrait photo of the Queen. His technique was rather long winded, involving burning incense, multicolored light panels and a holographic camera. Between formal shots, this image of the Queen resting her eyes was captured. The title became the Lightness of Being. #happybirthday #letsmakelemonade
