Walking the Silver Sands

I don’t really have to sell the merits of a beach walk. The backdrops, the rhythm of the surf, the sea breezes, the sunsets. Summer and winter are different. Both can be harsh, but both can be magical. There are however benefits that are less obvious. The synthesis of vitamin D. Strength training for the calves, quadriceps and glutes. Double the burn of calories compared to compacted surfaces. The sand is also associated with less joint impact and lower rates of injury. In my view the most important reasons for a beach walk are the sense of well-being, the bird photo opportunities and the inspirations for your next painting. #winterisbest #letsmakelemonade
