Mastering the counting tray

“Obvious is the most dangerous word in mathematics…”

Eric Temple Bell

I like intriguing things. I like Japanese things. I like this thing. My thoughtful wife has gifted me this amazing object. A piece with practical purpose, but virtually an abstract sculpture. A Soroban or counting tray is a Japanese abacus. The kanji stamped on the back have been translated. This Soroban originally became the property of Mr Sohara on the 24th May 1975. Learn to master this thing and you can perform calculations faster than with an electronic device. At the moment I have no idea how use it. #cleverwife #letsmakelemonade
