Amongst the volcanoes

“Whenever I look at a mountain I always expect it to turn into a volcano…”

Italo Svevo

This is Yugarabul land. The Scenic Rim is part of the Great Dividing Range, straddling the border between Queensland and NSW. Essentially this is a collection of extinct volcanic caldera. Nestled amongst them are the World Heritage listed Gondwana rainforests. This is a key area for Australian birding. Birdlife International has given it recognition as an IBA (important bird area). The most sought after bird species in the Scenic Rim rainforests is the critically endangered Coxon’s Fig Parrot. It is a great place to visit and even better place to live. #thanksjena #letsmakelemonade
