“Art is embedded in nature…”
Albrecht Durer
All of us who have the privilege of treating the sick will relate to this image. The patient pointing to the spot where it hurts. Often they are so persistent it can be hard to see or palpate the area. A prior blog dealt with Albrecht Durer and his iconic rhino etching. This is another drawing from the artist. In 1521 Durer was on a trip to the Netherlands when he became seriously ill. Unable to find a local doctor, he created this sketch to be sent to a physician in neighbouring town. His finger indicates the site of his pain. Unfortunately he remained undiagnosed and sadly he never recovered from the illness. #asadselfportrait #letsmakelemonade
