Signatures are having a bit of a moment. There is a trend to have a particularly distinctive one professionally designed. Nearly always these are in digital form, for documents and emails. Indeed if watching professional sports people is an indication, the handwritten signature has been reduced to a split second scrawl reminiscent of a cockroach. This has not always been the case. Above you see the work of ex NASCAR driver Richard Petty. Petty developed his distinctive mark whilst studying a course on Oriental Penmanship. Each signature took several minutes and was partially a strategy to avoid being swamped by eager fans. They have proved difficult to fake, making them rare, valuable and highly collectible. #mineisterrible #letsmakelemonade
