“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life…”

Pablo Picasso

So the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria’s annual A4 Art Exhibition is over for 2026. Over 650 pieces of work, in all imaginable media… oil, pastel, collage, gouache, watercolour, pencil, pen, lino cut, even photography. With so much choice, it is a buyers market. Less than 5% of the art actually sells during the exhibition, my three contributions being in the majority. It has still been a wonderful experience. Painting for a specific purpose or goal, having to name your art, having to price your art, and sending them off to the tender care of others for framing and hanging, are all new experiences for me. The best part was travelling to Melbourne, taking a punt over the Yarra River, and discovering the inner city oasis of Herring Island. Of course it was great to see my art hanging in a proper exhibition. I’ll have another go next year. #bucketlistgoal #letsmakelemonade
