When you blog a lot, it is easy to end up down quite a few rabbit holes. So it was that recently I was reading an email spruiking the 2026 Helsinki Design week, which happened to open last week. Kari Korkman the curator of said event and author of the email, was particularly excited to have a recreation of the Futuro House on display. Apparently none of these buildings still exist, but they were able to use the original 1968 plans of US architect Jan Van Dijs to produce what we see here. Now I am pretty sure that during much of my childhood one of these buildings was located in Melbourne Street, not far from where CIBO is now. I also have a notion that the house still exists, perhaps in a field, perhaps near somewhere like Myponga. I am sure South Australians can help me out here. Maybe there was a simpler options for the team from Helsinki. #surelyiamright #letsmakelemonade
