“After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well…”
Ataturk
It was only 600m long. There was no fresh water. There was no source of food or shelter. Flies swarmed and disease was rampant. The weather was extreme. The shelling was constant from sea and land, snipers and grenades were an ever present threat. The ANZAC forces spent 8 months here in 1915. They barely reached a kilometre inland from the beach. We must remember them. We can also stay at home a little longer. #lestweforget #letsmakelemonade
