Art is alive

“Winter’s Afternoon Hour” – John Lacey

From the exhibition- An Emotive Shift- Green Tank Gallery, Mt Compass

Every artist was first an amateur. This month sees the 2020 SALA Festival opening around our state. The South Australian Living Artists Festival was established in 1998 to celebrate our local visual artists. It is inclusive, allowing artists at any level and working in any medium to participate. The first festival ran over a week and involved 40 venues. Now it is held over the entire month of August, uses 600 venues and has 9000 participating artists. 2020 has provided the obvious challenges, but a slick website, smart phone app, online exhibitions and talks, combined with careful social distancing, have been used to keep things running. Given the current thirst for new stimulation, it may prove to be a very successful year. #goalsfor2021 #letsmakelemonade
