The inner sanctum

“The church is like a great ship pounded by the waves…”

St Boniface

St Nicholas of Myra was an early Christian bishop of Greek descent during the Roman Empire. He attended the famous Council of Nicaea in 325, later becoming a key iconic figure in Eastern Orthodox religions. St Nicholas is the patron saint of many. Children, Coopers, Sailors, Broadcasters, Brewers, Pharmacists, Thieves and Unmarried people, just for starters. To enter the Russian Orthodox Church of St Nicholas at Wayville is to step into a byzantine time portal. The 21st Century seems irrelevant in here. It was a great privilege for the Adelaide UrbanSketchers to be given such generous and loving access to this precious space. #hiddenlocalicon #letsmakelemonade
