One of the most coveted fountain pens to collect is a Nakaya. This one is exceptional and is now the flagship of my fleet. The Nakaya Dorsal Fin Version 2 in Hekitamenuri lacquer is handmade from natural urushi layered over a traditional ebonite cap and barrel. The distinctive fins are created by application of almost countless layers of lacquer, month after month. The Nakaya Pen Company was born when retired craftsmen from the Platinum Pen Company decided in 1997 to return to work producing their own over the top pen designs. Most of these masters are approaching 90 years of age. Production of the pens is slow and irregular. Perfection is not a sprint. #singaporehaul #letsmakelemonade
