So these have begun appearing in art supply shops. They are real Swann-Morton disposable scalpels. They are sterile and they are surgical grade. Surgeons are complete snobs about their scalpels, so I wouldn’t actually use one of these for an operation. They are often part of emergency and small procedure packs, they would look fine in the hand of an anaesthetist or intensive care doctor. However from an art perspective these are a major step up in function and class from a craft knife, and ironically a lot cheaper.
